The Achievers Gala 2009

Yesterday The Achievers Toastmasters Club celebrated their yearly Gala Dinner with great success in Tehuelche Argentinean Grill Restaurant.

Our yearly Gala is a wonderful chance for the members to get together and celebrate, to bring friends along, and for guests to meet the Achievers members in a more informal and fun setting.

Committee and members helped the organiser Mr. John Sandner to make the evening very special and enjoyable for everyone attending.
It is also the Achievers fund raising event, and beautiful Raffle and Spot Prices were generously donated by the members.

We had a delicious three course dinner, followed by a selection of entertaining and humorous table topics presented by Mr. Percy Roland.

Moya explained why “dogs wave their tales, not their tongues”, Dieter will yet again win the “Iron Man”, we learnt from our President Breda how to “act like a Lady and think like a man”, our Canadian guest Silvia introduced us to the benefits of massage, and last not least John and John made as lough even more when in a “double topic” John convinced John that he was in desperate need of plastic surgery.

The Toastmaster of the Evening John Sandner then presented the Raffle with the help of his beautiful assistant Sue and the lucky winners got huge rounds of applause when “moddeling” their prices.

After that we were ready to rock, and we danced the night away to the sound of the sixties and seventies -oh yessir, we can boogie! - only interrupted by Edward presenting the Spot Prices.

It was an evening of great fun, and another chance to introduce us to the community and the press in order to „get the word out“.

The money raised with the ruffle is usually used for our supply orders to TMI and to buy equipment like the LCD projector, video camera, etc.

This year the money will hopefully sponsor our winning contestants of the International Speech and Evaluation Contests to travel to the different conferences.
A great event which brings the Achievers another important step forward.

It was made possible by the commitment, energy, creativity and generosity of the Achievers Club members: John Sandner, Breda and Edward Lee, Sarah Quijano, Sue and Dave Edwards, Moya Nasr, Gunda and Oliver Bornkessel, Percy Roland and many more...

Welcome to the new Toastmasters Andalucia Blog

Dear Fellow Toastmasters in Andalucia,

Because of the distance between our Clubs it is difficult to exchange information, ideas, experiences, and help each other when help or a suggestion is needed.

Our Area Governour, TM Eamon O'Gara, suggests that we maintain contact and keep everyone up-to-date by holding by-monthly skype meetings.

In addition to that, you are invited to post your Club and Area News here, useful material for fellow Clubs to use,  suggestions and ideas that may help us all to improve.

Have fun,

Melanie K.
